Brand Identity

When defining the brand, I wanted to evoke the feeling of talking to someone who has been "there" before. Someone relaxed and helpful, but filled with unique experiences and stories.

While designing for this brand concept, I decided to use a calm but bright yellow paired with cool blues and grays , and a good amount of white space to allow the user to focus on the content of a story.

I thought about the symbols and items associated with travel and exploration and settled on a few different concepts to explore for the logo ( globe, compass rose, map pin, and a map). After some initial notebooks drawings, I brought the process into Sketch, where I mocked up digital iterations of the three marks I wanted to explore.

I found the pin mark to be too generic (there are already so many Pin logos in the travel space, but I liked that it symbolized points of reference. The compass I enjoyed because of its classic relation to adventure, but .

I ended up deciding on the unfolded map mark with an asymmetric pin on the side and added some darker yellow spots to show shadows. What really spoke to me about the Map was its romantic history.
